Do you see the size of this wedding party?! Of course I DIY’d as much as I possibly could!!
Flowers were one of the biggest expenses I knew I could cut down on by doing them myself, but I had no idea where to start. After doing a little research I found Sola Wood Flowers, and being that I have a fairly crafty background, I decided to give it a whirl!
Side Note: If you’re not a DIY girlie that’s okay! Just fill out the contact form on my homepage and I’d be happy to help!!
Okay so back to what I spent; first and most importantly, the Flowers!
Once I decided on wood flowers, I looked at a number of different distributors. After reading a ton of reviews I ultimately landed on www.luvsolaflowers.com 🌼 They had a TON of wonderful reviews and they happened to be running a huge sale! I ended up getting an assortment box of 1,000 flowers for $225!!! I mean seriously how could you beat that? I figured at the very least if it didn’t work out for my wedding, I’d have a ton of flowers to be able to make some home decor and Christmas gifts with. Luv Sola is still my favorite company to buy flowers from. Overall I think they have the best quality flowers and amazing customer service! But there are a ton of other options too! Just google “Sola Wood Flowers” and you’ll see!
Total Spent on Wood Flowers $225
The second most important thing I had to buy: Greenery & Fillers
I really had no idea what I was doing at this point but with a few inspo pics I had saved on Pinterest, to my local craft store I went! I was going for a very boho/wildflower look, and I really wanted greenery that looked somewhat realistic. I didn’t want any super bright colors, as my wedding was in the fall, and everything so far was very earthy toned. I ended up with a some dark greens along with some lighter sage greens for contrast. I went with both faux AND dried greenery which I think really pulled the look together! I also added in some dried daises, pampas grass, bunny tails, and feathers (yes, feathers) to give it some texture. I started with what greenery I felt I’d need for just my bridal bouquet (I ended up with a ton left over to use for the rest of the florals) and went back for the rest later. I spent about $270 total on all the greenery and fillers! I ended up having quite a bit left over to use for other projects, but I’d rather have too much than too little! I shopped at my local Hobby Lobby and made sure to wait until the florals section was at least 50% off!! Total spent on Greenery & Fillers $270
Finally just a few other materials I needed! Floral wire and hot glue to stem the flowers, acrylic paint and vegetable glycerine to dip (dye) the flowers, wire cutters to trim the stems, floral tape and twine to tie it all together and some cutesie corsage bands! All of that together (between Amazon and Hobby Lobby) cost me less than $50. I also bought a pool noodle from the dollar store that I used to make the big floral arch piece for the ceremony and that was (of course) only $1.
Total spent on Misc. Materials $48
So to round this all together, the amount I spent on wood flowers and materials to make all my wedding flowers totaled $543. Granted this was in early 2021 so I’m sure prices are a bit different today.
With those materials I was able to make:
(1) Large Bridal Bouquet
(12) Bridesmaids Bouquets
(16) Boutonnières
(4) Corsages
(1) Toss bouquet
(1) 8ft Floral Arch Piece
(1) Flower Girl Flower Crown
(250) Loose flowers to decorate the tables
(20) Single stemmed flowers for a memorial
and I still had a ton of flowers leftover!!
When I got quotes by local florists for just the wedding party florals, every single quote was over $5,000, and I know prices have gone up since then! By doing them myself I saved SO MUCH money!!! But don’t forget, if you’re not a DIY girlie I still got you! I now make custom wood flower wedding bouquets like mine for beautiful brides like you! Check out our IG @foreverfloralsfl for more info!
Until next time 🌼✌️
